Where the Passion Begins

Let me introduce myself, I am Melinda Haggart, mom of MacQuarrie my son and the dogs Bennett and Kota.

I grew up in southern Saskatchewan where my parent owned a motel which offers a number of 'you cant make this stuff up' stories. It is also where I fell in love with helping people. I have maintained this passion for helping others through volunteering with Kin Canada for 24 years where I am a Life Member, Kinsmen Telemiracle Foundation where I was on the board for 6 years - chair the first time they raised over $5 million to help sick and disabled residents of  Saskatchewan have a better quality of life, founding member of the Friends of the Museum when they found "Scotty the T.rex" and built the Interpretive Centre in Eastend, Sask, Treasurer of the Lloydminster Minor Hockey Association for 6 years, KidSports for 4 years. I have also lent a hand with Hockey Day in Canada, Pinty's  as well as any other opportunity to support the community of Lloydminster. I am excited to get involved in my new community of Red Deer.

Coming from a farming community and having a background in banking as well as not-for-profit, I bring a strong background and understanding of challenges that companies are having developing their human resources and policy development, procedures development and training programs have been a major part of these management roles. Having a strong understanding of the value of tracking development and growth is a direct reflection on ensuring staff are well trained. I have created and updated many policies so they are up to standards, developed procedures that go along with the policies that have been put in place. I also have business operation skills that come from a family business we owned and operated for 30 years, as manager of this business for 15 years, training and development allowed the business to grow and be successful.
